About Us

Gabi Carrasco

Gabi worked as an Environmental Engineer and Consultant for the past 9 years in the Manufacturing Remediation sector, focusing on Indoor Air Quality and Vapor Intrusion as it relates to human wellbeing. In May 2022, Gabi formed Chiqui [chee-kee] Wood Working, a biophilic design and building business with the goal of helping people and companies to bring the outside inside as a way to ground themselves, reconnect with nature, and reduce stress by incorporating natural colors, textures, and patterns into the home. Creativity, and therefore productivity, flow more easily in these environments. She is influenced by Wabi Sabi, a traditional Japanese aesthetic that showcases the imperfections natural materials and organized chaos that is present in nature. The noticeable imperfections in her artistic creations become the focal point.

In 2025, her and her husband, Jay, welcomed their first child, Dean. Gabi’s vision is to thin the veil between the outdoors and the indoors, especially now as we feel more and more isolated, anxious, and disconnected than ever before. This left her feeling compelled to dedicate herself to motherhood and to biophilic design/education and leave her position at work in May 2025 to pursue her passion.

Nancy Labrada

Nancy has been a Reiki practitioner (levels I and II) for nearly 9 years. Reiki is a Japanese healing modality now considered a CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) by leading hospitals in the USA. She successfully completed her certification course in SEL*F as well as her 200-hour Yoga instructor certification in 2021. She is also a certified Meditation in the Classroom teacher. She has also facilitated spiritual/wellness retreats and looks forward to continuing doing so for small private groups as well as for businesses moving forward.

Nancy has been a high school foreign language teacher in NYC for 22 years. She is fluently bilingual in English and Spanish and can also communicate in French. Her latest endeavor besides opening Moss and Medium, in Rosemont, New Jersey with her daughter in July 2026, is opening another wellness space, Reiki and Beyond, in Sola Salons in New Dorp, Staten Island in June 2026.

Volunteering is at the heart of any healing modality according to Nancy. She has been serving different communities throughout the last decade in both New York and New Jersey. She continues to search for the opportunities to honor the light in and hold sacred space for others in this way. She takes her inspiration from her lived experiences, her loved ones, and of course, Delilah (her sentient canine companion) and all those that are beyond the veil.
